Catch-up Blog

Monday, July 31st, 2006

I haven’t blogged for a while so here is a quick round up of my last few weeks.

DSC00006.JPGI finished work with Liquid Bronze on the 21st July. I’ve had a great 2 years with Andrew and I’ve learnt loads from him, both personally and professionaly. I will be sad not to be with or see Andrew as much.

I now work for Freedom Properties 3 days a week and the other 2 work days a week I am funded to do Skate Networking in Manchester. I am creating Freedom’s intranet and doing other web / IT stuff for them. I am cycling in every day, a journey of ~ 5 miles each way, so I hope to get fit quick and not be a fat dad! Although I aim to get to the offices and back directly, I change the route and enjoy cruising through new streets each time. Oh, and I’ve also got a new 15″ MacBook Pro - it’s a beaut!

With the Skate networking, I am wanting to be more part of the skatescene and perhaps get a skate lobby group going and an annual skate festival for Manchester. I’m very excited about both new jobs!

The Manchester Jazz Festival was this week, and I managed to make 2 events on Friday. I love the free music, I think it really creates a sense of collective ownership and appreciation for Manchester and it’s creative edge. I hope that an annual skate festival would do the same.

Mary-Lou’s tummy is now about the biggest it will get, in the last few weeks it gets smaller as the baby drops into the womans pelvis bone. We’re very excited as our baby could come anytime now! Mary-Lou wants at least a weeks maternity leave to rest before it does though! This is her last week working for the Council.

My Mum & Dad have moved from Derby to Crewe today. I went to the Clitheroe Skatepark on Saturday with some mates and asked them if they had ever skated in Crewe. They hadn’t but said that it is refferred to as “Crewe York” for its great skate spots! So i will have to have a cruise around when I visit, to see what I can find!

My New Bike

Sunday, July 9th, 2006

I bought a new bike on Thursday. It’s a Beach Cruiser. My old Mountain Bike was bruising my Coxis, and I wanted to sit upright when I ride, so I got this beauty!

I found this group while searching for other people who like Beach Cruisers, Beach Cruisers Coast to Coast. All they seem to want to do is promote a laid back life-style - I like the idea of looking forward to a cruise after work!

I went on a cruise today, I love just cycling to wherever you want to explore, and I love being comfy and relaxed as I do it. I popped by a few friends to show them my new bike, most of them weren’t in, but I didn’t mind, ‘cos I was just cruisin’!

Anniversary Spa

Monday, July 3rd, 2006

Today is the 2nd Anniversary of Mary-Lou and I. We celebrated yesterday by spending the day at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel Spa. We spent alot of time in the swimming pool, reading our magazines and newspapers, I spent lots of time in the Jacuzzi and Steam sauna, and we both had a hour long full-body massage each - mmmMMMmmm!

Then we went to a restaurant named Piccolino in the City Centre and had a great meal. mary-lou had Piglet and I had Duck.

My Dad was on BBC Radio Derby yesterday chatting about what he does and what he’s gonna do in Crewe (Mum & Dad are moving there ‘cos Dad is leading the School of Ministry at Regents Theological College). I recorded it to mp3 so if you wanna listen, go to www.garygibbs.co.uk/sermons.php
